Experience the best of the Chesapeake from this magical 47' bay-built boat based on Kent Island, Maryland — the thrill of bay fishing, the leisure of a summer cruise, and the best of what the Bay has to offer. And in this 2024 season, there’s even more to celebrate; the Breezin’ Thru is celebrating her 75th anniversary. Happy Birthday, old girl.

A Brief History

Marcia Landskroener joined the crew of the Breezin’ Thru after learning that the classic Chesapeake deadrise berthed at Kentmorr Marina was built by her great-grandfather, Andrew J. “Bubsy” Stevens of Rock Hall. While working as a mate, she learned a lot about how Capt. Harry Carter entertained his fishing charter clients, and witnessed firsthand how Capt. Tilghman Hemsley carries on his legacy. This year, to help mark the 75th anniversary of the boat, Marcia has written her story. “Breezin Thru: Queen of the Chesapeake” chronicles the history of her construction, details an old-school business model that goes beyond “just fishing,”  and celebrates the people who built and love(d) her.

If you would like to purchase a copy of Breezin Thru: Queen of the Chesapeake,” email Marcia at mlandskroener@gmail.com. Copies, selling for $10 each, are also available on the boat.

Tilghman Hemsley Fine Arts

Tilghman Hemsley, captain of the Breezin’ Thru, is just as gifted an artist as he is a fisherman and storyteller. His artwork is informed by his experiences on the Chesapeake Bay, his keen appreciation for maritime history and culture, and his insights into the people and places he captures on canvas.
